Clinical studies show that the initial anti-wrinkle effect of Resytlane is due to the presence of filler on the skin. But three or four weeks after treatment, the skin actually begins to form new collagen.
What is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a type of sugar in the skin that holds collagen and elastin. This basically provides a skeleton for the skin.
Injectable fillers like Restylane and Juvederm smooth the skin, increasing the volume to minimize lines and wrinkles. This hyaluronic acid filler works by drawing water into the skin. The patient is aware of the decision immediately.
Since a clinical study on Restylane, the Food and Drug Administration has approved Juvéderm, an injection hyaluronic acid supplement introduced by Allergan in January 2007.
