Cosmetic Procedures and Botox Injections

Botox is a very popular cosmetic product; so many are often considered as embodiments of cosmetic procedures. However, not many people in Brooklyn know much about Botox injections and the benefits and side effects. Let's take a look at all the information you need to know before you consider Botox injections:
What is Botox?

Botox Cosmetic is a prescription drug injected into the muscle and used to enhance the appearance of simple and coarse sweat lines. It prevents the transmission of impulses between the nerves and muscles, thus temporarily reducing muscle activity and relaxation.
Botox as a Medical Product

Not many people are aware of this, but Botox injections are also given medically, as their muscular relaxation can be used in treating certain medical conditions. Botox is prescribed and administered to treat cervical dystonia, a condition in which the neck muscle is severely damaged. It is also used to treat muscle cramps in the hands and arms, hyperhidrosis (severe armpit sweat), urinary incontinence and also to prevent headaches in chronic migraine patients.
Botox as a Cosmetic Product

As a cosmetic product, Botox can be used to treat and reduce the following signs of aging:

• Wrinkle lines

• Horizontal forehead line

• Eye Crow

• Bunny line, the wrinkles that make up the top of your nose when you smile

The lip line is vertical

• Flaky chin
It can also be injected into your neck to increase its stiffness and appearance by reducing horizontal and muscular lines.
How is Botox injection administered?

Botox cosmetic injections are administered to a variety of facial muscles, and the procedure is performed by a medical doctor in an office or spa setting. Treatment is usually repeated three times a year to maintain the appearance.
How much time does it take for Botox to take effect?

It depends on a number of factors, including your medical condition, facial area and muscle size, depth of wrinkles, metabolism and the medicine you take. Botox starts to show up about 2-3 days after injection and full results of Botox can be seen within 7-10 days.
What are the side effects of Botox?

Botox cosmetic injections are not known to cause any major side effects. There may be temporary redness and swelling at the injection site, black and blue marks are rare, but if they do, they are not durable and are easily covered with makeup. Some people experience temporary headaches that are easily released with Tylenol. Loss of the eyelid is also a very rare occurrence and is usually never experienced by experienced surgeons. There is also a report available about the distribution of toxins in Botox Cosmetic users.
