Dermatology - Why It's Important

Dermatology is a medical subspecialty related to diseases and skin disorders. Dermatologists are physicians specially trained in the medical and surgical aspects of skin care, including cosmetic, aesthetic and functional improvements. This specialty includes irritation and treatment of scalp, hair and nails. The types of therapies provided by dermatologists include hair removal, cosmetic fillers, laser or photodynamic therapy, tattoo removal, tumescent liposuction, cryosurgery, and various topical and systemic therapies that are medicated or untreated.
Hair removal can be achieved through electrolysis or laser follicle damage. Each technique is suitable for different hair types on different skin types. For example, laser hair removal is most effective when applied to dark hair and light skin and can be used to treat large areas in no time. Electrolysis is best for smaller areas with fine or light hair. This procedure is very common and the side effects of each treatment are quite rare.
Cosmetic filler injection is a non-surgical form of dermatological anti-aging treatment. Usually used to reduce or eliminate wrinkles, forehead wrinkles, crow's feet, or increase size and shape to the lips, injections are performed in outpatient clinics with minimal recovery time. The results are immediate, the risk of side effects is low, and the costs are often reasonable, making this treatment popular, safe and effective.
Laser and photodynamic therapies are often used to reduce or eliminate birthmarks, tattoos, skin disorders such as vitiligo, or cosmetics and rejuvenation. Skin cancer and premature growth can also be treated with phototherapy as a non-surgical approach to reduce the risk of metastasis. Many people turn to laser or phototherapy to improve their overall tone and texture.
Tumescent liposuction is a surgical procedure performed by dermatologists and plastic surgeons to help patients achieve their desired shape. Although liposuction cannot be used as a substitute for a healthy diet and exercise, it is often an option for individuals who have recently lost a lot of weight but have some balance that cannot be wasted. Tumescent liposuction uses anesthetic to dilute through local infusion to create space between muscle tissue and fat. This space allows more space for liposuction cannula and minimizes systemic anesthetic toxicity.
Cryosurgery is often performed on the basis of outpatients and is used to treat warts, skin cancers, or other dermatological disorders with liquid nitrogen. The risks of side effects and healing time are minimal, making this therapy common and safe. Both benign and malignant skin conditions can be treated with cryosurgery and are an integral part of any dermatological practice.
Topical and systemic therapies include antibiotics, immunotherapy, creams or topical medicines or non-medicines, and other injection products designed to treat various skin problems. Acne, skin cancer, premature growth, anti-aging skin care, and hair growth or removal are all types of disorders that can be treated with topical or systemic therapy.
Consult a dermatologist in your area to determine your skin care needs and appropriate treatment modalities.
