What Causes Furrowed Brows?

Wrinkles can be caused by many different factors. We can control the levels of some of these factors that can help make it happen, but other factors are more difficult to control. Here are some of the main causes of forehead wrinkles:


  • Age - As we age, the skin can become dryer and brighter.

  • Genetics - Like heart disease, green eyes or height, genetics can play a role in the appearance of wrinkles.

  • Free Radicals - Free radicals can damage the skin of the electrons causing damage to the skin cells.

  • Collagen Loss - Loss of collagen can cause skin breakdown.

  • Environmental Exposure - Exposure to the sun can cause thinning of the epidermis. Exposure can also cause collagen breakdown at a faster rate in the dermis.

  • Smoking - Nicotine leads to narrowing of the blood vessels which reduces the amount of oxygen and nutrients that can be delivered to your skin.

  • Exposure to Secondary Smoke - Cigarette smoke creates a loss of elasticity and can cause sagging.

  • Facial Expression - Exposure can cause the skin and muscles on your face to be used more often, which relaxes the skin.

  • Unhealthy Diet - Skin needs the right amount of vitamins, nutrients and fluids to stay healthy. Throwing food or eating unhealthy foods will reduce the skin's vitamins and nutrients.

What kind of wrinkle?
There are two basic types of wrinkles. The most commonly referred to as the forehead line. The chest line is a horizontal line across the forehead. This type of wrinkle can leave one with a constant look of shock on their face. Another type is referred to as the Glabellas line. This is also known as a sweaty or raised line. They are called as if they have a similarity to the number eleven of your eyes and most often appear when people frown or scratch their foreheads.
What kind of treatment is available for forehead wrinkles?
There are many different treatments for forehead wrinkles. There are simple things like a better diet that involves more fruits and vegetables and staying out in the sun. Quitting smoking and staying away from a location where you will find yourself surrounded by second hand smoke can also help. Drinking adequate amounts of water daily can also keep skin hydrated and help keep forehead wrinkles from appearing. There are also more invasive procedures like facelift and Botox. However, the easiest option to reduce forehead wrinkles or keep them from appearing may be as simple as cream wrinkles.
