Popular Acne Drug Could Also Erase Wrinkles and CorrectHyperpigmentation

For more than two decades, acne sufferers have turned to powerful isotretinoin drugs to control severe acne lesions. Although reports of side effects such as suicide and depression have disrupted isotretinoin, this blockbuster drug is still appealing to the anti-aging market.
Most of the capacity against age isotretinoin is found in the laboratory. One group of researchers found that oral doses of isotretinoin can actually improve the surgical procedure used to reverse the signs of aging such as wrinkles and black spots.
According to reports in Malaysia Dermatology Surgery , investigators provided 60 patients aged 35 to 65 years of isotretinoin three times a week for two months, while patients underwent cosmetic surgery procedures. A control group of 60 women, of the same age, did not receive isotretinoin during aesthetic surgery.
At the end of the isotretinoin test, researchers examined the skin of the woman and found that the person taking the acne medication saw increased skin thickness, decreased pore size, increased tension and skin tone, and reduced hyperpigmentation.
While you may be looking forward to taking prescription strength medicine to enhance your skin's appearance, you can consider slathering on an isotretinoin layer instead.
In fact, investigators have found that 0.05% isotretinoin gel can increase skin thickness.
Similarly, one study in Journal of Dermatological Treatment found that treatment with 0.05% isotretinoin cream plus sunscreen reduced wrinkles around the eye area. In the trial, researchers gave 172 women isotretinoin creams along with sunscreen, while 174 participants used only carrier creams. The volunteers use the cream once a day for six months and then stop using the cream for three months.
The examiner monitors the participants' behavior. skin for wrinkles and fine lines three, six and nine months after the trial began. Groups using isotretinoin combined with sunscreen showed a significant reduction in the signs of photo aging.
Because isotretinoin has many therapeutic applications, some doctors are now more prepared to prescribe reduced doses for off-label use such as combating skin aging. Often, if oral isotretinoin is out of the question, you can also ask your doctor about topical isotretinoin gel to help reverse wrinkles and uneven skin coloring.
