can i use tretinoin w/ sheet mask?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!💃💃 I'm on the same path ! So happy for u !
ReplyDeleteI just started this stuff yesterday... I am SO red and I feel like my entire first layer of dead skin peeled off. My skin is so dry I feel like I can't make any facial expressions but I'm sticking with it bc I can see the really beautiful glowy skin underneath already!
ReplyDeleteNice video love from Pakistan 🥰🥰🥰
ReplyDeleteSo, you use tretinoin everyday after you shower at night and after you moisturise, except for the day you derma roll/stamp? How long did you do this for? Must've gone through a lot of tubes of tretinoin.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah!
Hi Sarah, was this prescribed for you or did you buy it online?
ReplyDeletecan i use olive oil as my moisturizer after applying retin a ?
ReplyDeletei started tretinoin and clindamycin a little more than a week ago, and it is right in the middle of summer. i absolutely love being in the sun and getting tan. my friends and i normally go to some docks on a nearby river almost everyday each summer, and i love to go on beach vacations, but this summer i've had to sacrifice that. i can honestly say that this summer has been the worst summer of my life. it sucks not being able to do the things that i want to do, and just constantly being sad and insecure about my skin, and just wishing i had clear skin like the rest of my friends. but, i decided to start these treatments now because i felt my acne getting worse, and i knew that my benzoyl peroxide treatment was not going to be able to handle it on its own. all i want is for my skin to be clear, and the sooner the better for me. of course i am so scared of the purge and i'm praying that it isn't in full effect on my birthday, school picture day, and the first day of school, which are all coming up soon. at this point all i can do is trust the process, but trust me, it's hard. now i'm gonna tell you what my skin routine is. for the first two weeks i use tretinoin .025% every other night, and clindamycin 1% every morning and night. i always wash my face with a 5% benzoyl peroxide wash, then apply clindamycin. if i'm not applying tretinoin that night and on every morning, i will then put a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide treatment and wait about 10 minutes before applying an oil-free, neutrogena sensitive skin moisturizer mixed with aloe. then if this is in the morning i will lastly put on the elta md acne prone 46 spf sunscreen, 15 minutes before sun exposure. if it is a night when i am using tretinoin, i will apply my moisturizer and aloe mix right after the clindamycin and then wait 45 minutes (since i have dried my face) to apply a pea size amount of tretinoin in my problem areas. i will never apply my 2.5% benzoyl peroxide treatment when i am also applying tretinoin because it could irritate my skin, making it worse. so far i have not had any irritiation, except for some bearable dry skin that just rubs off naturally. i think i might be starting to purge, but so far my benzoyl peroxide has acted against it pretty well. keep in mind that these are instructions from my dermatologist for my skin, and don't mix topicals like benzoyl and tretinoin without checking in with your doctor. also in the future if i notice irritation on my skin, i will switch my benzoyl cleanser for the hydrating cera-ve cleanser. now here are a few tips i stand by. patience and following instructions is key. over applying won't speed up the process i promise. drinking lots of water, and limiting excess sugar and diary actually has helped me. if you want to get tan on your body, use the jergens medium to tan gradually tanning lotion, and it works like a charm. it is valid to feel insecure about your acne and it really is a disease, don't let people tell you that you are vain or stupid for caring about it- just know that isn't what makes you who you are and others really don't notice it the way you do. and lastly you are not alone, you are beautiful, and it will get better <3 i hope this helped someone and reply to me if you have any questions or just want to talk about skin with me :)
ReplyDeleteThought she meant Dr. Dre the rapper 😂😂😂
ReplyDeleteA combo of Benzoyl peroxide and Clindamycin is a big acne prevention technique. I stopped breaking out when I started mixing both, as told by my doctor and avoiding the sun. I'm also using Retin-A (Tretinoin) at night before going to bed. My skin haven't looked this good since I was 17.... 30 next year gonna be a great!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this!
ReplyDeleteIm in morocco i ve been using this product fot two month now yet no difference is really shown on my face the product is friendly to my skin no redness no dryness but i moisturize my frst before applying retin a should i continue or stop cuz my derma said it is up to u .
ReplyDeleteCan you use this or other types of retinoid whilst on isotretinoin? :)
ReplyDeleteDid you use gel or cream retin a?
ReplyDeleteLiar
ReplyDeleteSo it helps if you put first the moisturizer and then the retin-A Or the other way round? Thank you!
ReplyDeletewould you recommend dermarolling before I start my tretinoin prescription to get rid of shallow acne scars? or would tretinoin take care of that better?
ReplyDeleteWhere can I buy this stuff ?
ReplyDeleteHI, I do have a question. I just finished Accutane so I was not expecting an initial break out using Tretinoin. But i do get these tiny bumps around my jawline and it is making me so nervous.
ReplyDeleteI've been using Tretinoin 0.1% for a little over a year now and it has worked wonders for my skin. I started out with 0.025% but that wasn't strong enough for me. I didn't really start to see full results until about six months after use. I'd have really bad and frequent breakouts along my jawline and cheeks. I got the Rx from my dermatologist for about $12 for three tubes. My face routine includes: at night I wash my face with a benzoyl peroxide cleanser, then I use a Clean and Clear toner, next I apply a small amount of moisturizer with benzoyl peroxide, a drop of overnight recovery serum and a drop of rosehip oil w/ vitamin c from Pearl Essence. In the morning I use a mild soap, toner, a drop of rosehipoil w/ vitamin c, then I apply the Tretinoin cream. In the past, the benzoyl peroxide alone was not working until I added Tretinoin to my routine.
ReplyDeleteHave you used an over-the-counter retinol before this or did you immediately start with tretinoin? :3
ReplyDeleteWhat happens when you stop using it? I had severe acne but that stopped with age but am left with scars a dermatologist recommended this to me and am about to use it. Anyone that has stopped before would help a lot
ReplyDeleteDoes it work on scarring? I can't seem to get rid of scarring
ReplyDeleteNo no you are not 29 please be honest. You are way to younger than girls in my college
ReplyDeleteI've been using a Tretinoin/Retin-A .025 for almost a year now. I wanted to get rid of the monthly blemish( like literally i have 1 a month that stays forever!.haha) and to get a start on anti-aging in my 20s.,my doctor told me to use it every other day then build up to everyday. Now personally for me I did not get BAD side effects or peelies. BUT, what I had always done is put moisturizer before it. Like you I started slowly for the first 2 months only doing 2 times a week. Now my skin went from normal to dry, not horrible dry but still now I need more hydrating makeup. I now alternate between my tretinoin and Good Genes by Sunday Riley( its AMAZING, and i dont say that about many skincare products where u can see results. I used Good Genes for the month I was traveling only and did not get 1 BLEMISH. so after that I thought it was amazing at keeping my skin clear).
ReplyDeleteNow for me last year I went to Europe for the month(and i was in London, which is my favorite city ever!even though i hate cold weather lol), anywho I was scared to start it when I would be out everyday in the sun and I am NOT a person who is going to reapply my makeup every 4 hours( i put my spf first). It's just not realistic when your traveling and out and about. you know. Even though I use mostly tinted moisturizers or like Bare Minerals Powder i would be too lazy .haha. unless I plan a stop back to the hotel
When I got back home I asked my dermatologist what her thoughts were about if I was traveling again and going to be in the sun and going to be out all day and not goin to reapply spf. Now, she said its fine to use it EVEN if you are not going to reapply your spf. She is a very good doctor, but personally if you know you arent going to reapply your spf and your on holiday then Retin-A is something you can stop for a while. Because spf is not affective on your face after a few hours. then again i am not a doctor so what do i know.haha. But research Good Genes by Sunday Riley, it really helps keep the cystic pimples away. for me since I did not have heavy acne I think of tretinoin purely for my anti-aging benefit. sorry this is like an essay at this point.hahah. You are gorgeous btw:) . You look younger then some of my college friends.
am 20 have pimple marks can I use it
ReplyDeleteHey @sarah I want to ask you, When to apply this Tretinoin gel? Immediately after derma rolling sesseion or after 3 4 days later of session? Exactly on the scars?
ReplyDeleteI love Dr Dray’s videos!
ReplyDeleteHey Sarah! I’m currently on tretinoin as well and had a really bad purging. My cheeks were red, flaky and I had acne non stop despite how healthy I would eat. They said that purging can last from 6-8 weeks and I just started my 8th week. Despite the horrid purging, I started breaking out less and less every week and just like you, the scars of my cystic acne would clear much faster! I have a few breakouts left so it does get better bc asides my left cheek, my right cheek and my forehead don’t have any breakouts anymore just a scarring :)
ReplyDeleteDoes it shrink pores? Cause my doctor told me it removed a layer of skin?umm also my doctor told me to apply this every day before going to sleep safe or no safe?
ReplyDeleteI love her voice
ReplyDeleteDo you need paper's from doctor to buy that?
ReplyDeleteI started about a week ago, my skin is very red and its peeling like crazy! Idk if i should continue
ReplyDeleteHello! I'm nearly done with my 6 month accutane course and fortunately I have no pimples. I do have red to pink color on my skin and scars. However, my dermatologist prescribed this medication to fade my scars. My fear is that I will breakout again. What would you recommend?
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell? 29!? I was thinking 23.
ReplyDeleteDr. Dray rocks. Yes she is awesome
ReplyDeletedoes retin a help with pitted scars? even if they are not that deep?
ReplyDeleteI use it twice a week I love it also I stop using make up everyday I use a tinted sunscreen looks like make up lol try it;)
ReplyDeleteHi. Just found your channel and also use retin a. Built it up from 0.5 to 0.1% over 18 months as had used retinol for years along with differin. It does make my face more sun sensitive and especially my neck. Even factor 50 and I live in Africa! So happy to find another English channel. Following your journey from now on. XOXO
ReplyDeletecan you use retin a on only troubled areas? would it cause hypopigmentation? i have a medium skin tone and my skin cant tolerate retin a in the t-zone but the cheeks and forehead tolerate it really well!
ReplyDeleteWhen you first started using Tretinoin, did your skin look like shiny plastic. I haven't peeled, but my skin gets extremely greasy looking during the day. I have tried Tretinoin on a number of occasions, but always stop when I get this tight plastic look with excess grease.
ReplyDeleteHey Sarah! I’m 13 years old and I have acne and a lot of acne marks. I have Asian skin so I’m definitely a lot more prone to acne marks. What percentage did you use? I’m so scared for this not to work because I go back to school in September and I just wanna feel confident in my skin :)
