What Causes Wrinkles?

While wrinkles can sometimes symbolize the wisdom and experience of some people, most of us don't want them to appear anywhere on our skin. Wrinkles are just scrapes or folds that form on the surface of the skin. They are usually found in parts of the body exposed to the sun all the time. These include the neck, face, upper arm, and back of the hand.
There are many factors, some controlled and some not, that cause people to age. Natural causes such as exposure to sunlight, stress, hormonal changes, smoking or just getting enough rest, all accelerate the aging process of the skin. This is true for those who experience all these factors, thus accelerating the overall rate at which wrinkles are formed.
Usually, our skin can handle about 20-30 minutes of exposure to sunlight daily. Excessive exposure to the sun can cause damage to the skin due to UV radiation. UVA and UVB rays break down skin collagen and sometimes form free radicals, which can cause wrinkles to form no matter how young or old.
The stress we all experience can also cause wrinkles to develop. When the body is under pressure, it becomes weak. Poor body causes faster cell degradation, which also means slower cell regeneration. When skin cells are depleted, the skin becomes wrinkled. In addition, stress is known to cause facial wrinkles due to facial expressions that accompany stress.
If you are a smoker, then you should know that this habit causes your skin cells to lose weight quickly. This means that you increase your chances of developing wrinkles. Smoking has a bad effect on the skin, almost as bad as sun damage. This is because it is known to have a negative effect on collagen in the skin, as it dries and blocks oxygen and nutrients from reaching the skin cells. This means that instead of the radiant light we all want, the skin will eventually have a yellow-gray tone instead.
If you do not keep your body hydrated, your skin will grow. Drinking enough water is very important for your body, especially when keeping your skin healthy. Remember, a dry body will cause your skin to acne.
To avoid wrinkles, try wearing sunscreen daily when you are outdoors. It provides extra protection to your skin from UVA and UVB sunlight. Another way to effectively prevent wrinkles is to set aside time every day to flow and relax. Stress will speed up the aging process, so take time every day to relax and breathe. The easiest way to avoid wrinkles is to not smoke. You can choose not to smoke, so don't. Finally, drink at least 8 glasses of water daily. Water helps eliminate toxins and speeds up the rate at which skin cells renew themselves.
Although we are always aging, there are many techniques we can use to control and slow down the process. Therefore, understanding what causes wrinkles effectively enables one to prevent wrinkles from forming and better manage those that exist.
