BOTOX for lip wrinkles
BOTOX for lip wrinkles - this is a common procedure requested, but it is very important to choose the right type of wrinkle for Botox. Wrinkles can be classified as dynamic - such as when you turn your lips, - actions like pursing or kissing. This upper lip wrinkle can be seen only by muscle movement. Botox and fillers like Restylane or Juvederm can improve and prevent wrinkles and upper lip lines.
If the wrinkles on the upper lip are static, this means that they are present at rest. Botox in this situation has little impact - especially for deep lines. Fillers can help reduce the appearance and depth of this type of wrinkle.
Static cuttings can be treated with lasers or with radiofrequency microneedling (INFINI), as well as fractional lasers such as Fraxel. Laser recovery has a longer recovery time than skin needs - microneedling energy, but laser products like erbium and CO2-FRAXEL fractions are generally better. I keep full ablative lasers for very deep sun lips, and severe lip wrinkles. I usually use a combination of lasers and fillers for the best results.
In short, Botox can be used to treat and prevent wrinkles present on your upper lip with dynamic movement wrinkles. Some patients may have muscle weakness in the upper lip for a few days. Botox lasts up to 3-4 months in this area.

I never thought of laser as an option to dermal fillers or botox.

ReplyDeleteMy derm wants to use dotblaser and do stacking to remove lip,lines. My upper lip has definitely lost volume so worried laser my lessen volume even more. Ismstacking dangerous? Thanks

ReplyDeleteI've had the botox for the lip lines about 4 times over the years and never more than 6-8 units. However I didn't like the way it made my mouth feel. I struggled to pucker and drinking out of a straw was challenging. I decided to try restalyne and it works great. No puffed lips just lines gone.
