How to Treat Eye Bags and Wrinkles with a Combination Procedure

A woman was concerned about him under the eye bag and the line under her eyes. She asked for advice to treat her under the eye area.

Dr. Amiya Prasad, an oculofacial cosmetic surgeon, says this is probably the most common question she gets every day in her practice. Eyes and swollen lines under the eyes are among the first things that occur to many as a first sign of aging, or have a swollen lower limb that can occur even at a young age.

Before they came to see Dr. Prasad, many of his patients try to treat the swollen bag with over-the-counter cream and lotions that are guaranteed to help. This does not work because lower eyelid fat prolapse problems occur in the eyelids so topical cream cannot help the area.

Dr. Prasad explains that the swelling under the eyes is the fat pouch that lies inside the eyelids pushing forward, which is generally genetic. If the socks run in the family, or there are family members who have them, there is a good chance that the younger relatives will have them too. In Dr Prasad's practice for 20 years, he has operated on three generations of the same family many times, so the genetic component is the real factor.

Earlier in the practice of Dr. Prasad, he was used to treat the swelling bag as an isolated procedure, but as soon as the bag disappeared and the eyelids healed, patients were worried about their lines and wrinkles. Now his approach is first to identify the different components under the eyes. Therefore, when she undergoes a lower extremity surgery or transconjunctival blepharoplasty, in which she removes the fat pocket from the inside of the eyelid, she then combines it with a procedure that helps smooth lines and wrinkles to enhance and rejuvenate the entire area of the eye.

Dr Prasad specifically uses split CO2 lasers that help stimulate new collagen and restore the baby's quality of skin. He also performed a sophisticated procedure called platelet rich plasma. It comes from the patient's own blood like a typical blood drawing for a blood test. He focuses on platelets, blood components for clotting and healing. It helps with the reorganization of collagen, building and repairing fine lines and wrinkles. She also uses it for acne scars and also with ACell on her hair loss. Combining swelling and treating lines at the same time is a great way for the patient to look brighter.

Dr. Prasad's unique approach to solving this woman's problem is to perform transconjunctival blepharoplasty which means removing the fat bag from under the eyes and combining it with fractional CO2 plasma and platelet rich plasma. The only thing he couldn't do was get a physical exam to understand the quality of his skin and other anatomical aspects of his eyelids.
